Though first interested in straight ahead jazz, Dwbossa soon re-discovered the Getz/Gilberto sound of early 60s bossa nova, and from there all genres of uniquely Brazilian music, including MPB, pagode, samba, and others, including such artists such as Nara Leao, Djavan, Emilio Santiago and Ivan Lins, as well as the Brazilian jazz trios and groups of the 1960s — Bossa Tres, Som Tres, Meirelles, Luis Vinhas and others — many of whom were since forgotten. Since then, dwbossa has endeavored to create a sound which melds North American hard bop, soul jazz, and modal styles as exemplified by Bill Evans and McCoy Tyner with the rhythmic and harmonic sensibilities of Brazilian and Latin music, including electric and acoustic sounds. Dwbossa plays with both mainstream jazz and Brazilian music, leading the Bossa Jazz Quartet, and is working on forming a larger electric jazz-samba fusion ensemble.
