Join Eric Christopher, Anthony Ihrig and Becky Schlegel for the launch of their new project, Clover and the Bee. Clover and the Bee began as a semi-regular song swap among three friends, songwriters and musical co-conspirators at Christopher’s house in the West 7th neighborhood of Saint Paul. The three dug into their songwriting back catalogs to show off songs that were either not bluegrass enough, not country enough or just plan too weird or idiosyncratic for any other project. It was at this open house for misfit songs that the three got the idea to start a new band, one whose sound showed their country and bluegrass roots but wasn’t bound by tradition. With the addition of bassist Kevin Rowe (Buffalo Galaxy, Space Burritos), who had recently moved to the Twin Cities from Madison, WI, Clover the Bee was born. Named after a line from Emily Dickinson’s poem “To Make a Prairie,” Clover and the Bee play American roots music that’s as free and expansive as the wide-open flatlands of the Upper Midwest.

Formed over three decades ago, Leatherman has become a cornerstone of Minnesota’s Americana music scene. Blending folk, country, bluegrass, and roots rock, their sound is timeless and reflective of the Midwest’s rich cultural heritage. Known for their storytelling lyrics and interesting instrumentation, the band has garnered a loyal fanbase throughout the Upper Midwest.

Over the years, Leatherman has been recognized for their songwriting prowess , earning three nominations for Minnesota Songwriter of the Year. Their songs, often infused with themes of love, resilience, and the changing American landscape, resonate deeply with audiences.

Thank You For Being A Friend began as a series of livestreams in 2020-2021.  Formed by Jillian Rae, Annie Fitzgerald, Vicky Emerson, and Sarah Morris, the desire to make music together, even though physically apart, led to regular online concerts, where the artists and friends would swap songs and stories, and folks would tune in from their homes.  Over time, the 'Friends' group expanded to include other Twin Cities-based singer/songwriters, and eventually, led to in person shows at a few favorite local venues.  We are thrilled to bring an edition of TYFBAF to 318 Cafe!  Join Annie, Jillian, Sarah, and Katy Vernon, for a night of songs, stories, most certainly laughs, and maybe tears.

A native of Winona, Minnesota, Pamela now resides in Minneapolis. Her career has taken her all over the world including four years in the UK as a backing singer for Rick Astley and has written for and with a wide range of other artists including Wynonna Judd, Jim Peterik (“Eye of the Tiger”) and Instrumental icon Yanni. Storyteller/Comedian Bill Chadwick returns to 318 for a third time, celebrating “The Ninth Day of Christmas” (January 3rd) with some heartwarming Christmas tales, plus the usual miscellaneous tomfoolery, wit and wisdom. Bill is VERY excited to share the stage with Telae.

Telae is a Minnesota native who has been singing and writing music for over 3 decades.  With musical influences from church songs to jazz and folk, she has been inspired by artists like Carole King, Stevie Wonder and Billie Holiday.
