Matt’s new orchestra has a grassy sound that’s ea;sy to fall into. Most striking to both the eye and ear is the harp mastery of Phala Tracy. The band’s sound is underpinned by the propulsive banjo groove of Quillan Roe. The bright sounds of harp and banjo are sent forth on black road of electric bass paved by Minneapolis guitar wizard Jacques Wait. The group sings together in striking close harmony. Their new album, When I was a Writer, represents not only a new and appealing sound but a 10-track songwriting triumph of melody, rhyme, and pure emotion.

Clover & The Bee

$15 … Buy Tickets!

Clover and the Bee brings together acclaimed Minnesota songwriters Becky SchlegelAnthony IhrigEric Christopher, and Kevin Rowe, blending their bluegrass pedigree with indie-folk sensibilities to craft American roots music as free and expansive as the Upper Midwest. The project began as a semi-regular song swap among three friends, songwriters and musical co-conspirators (Becky, Anthony and Eric) at Christopher’s house in the West 7th neighborhood of Saint Paul. The three dug into their songwriting back catalogs to show off songs that were either not bluegrass enough (in the case of Ihrig and Christopher’s band The High 48s), not country enough (in the case of Becky Schlegel’s solo project) or just plan too weird or idiosyncratic for any other project. It was at this open house for misfit songs that the three got the idea to start a new band, one whose sound showed Christopher, Ihrig and Schlegel’s country and bluegrass roots but wasn’t bound by tradition. With the addition of bassist and songwriter Kevin Rowe (Buffalo Gospel, Adam Greuel), who had recently moved to the Twin Cities from Madison, WI, Clover the Bee was born.

Canceled: Dan Tedesco

CANCELED

Rooted in the timeless craft of 60s/70s songwriting, Tedesco’s music wrestles with the modern condition — the tension between humanity and technology, purpose and pressure. His latest project, The Overwhelming, is being released one song at a time through the DTMC, a streaming platform he built during the pandemic to take back control of how art is shared.

Over the years, Tedesco has shared the stage with artists like Blues Traveler, Chris Shiflett (Foo Fighters), Langhorne Slim, Alejandro Escovedo, and Lucero. But his real strength lies in the long game: building a direct, lasting connection with his audience — one story, one show, and one song at a time.

If you’ve seen his shows, then you know. If you haven’t, then don’t you think it’s about time you did?!? You will not be disappointed…

Sarah Morris & Becky Schlegel

$15Buy Tickets!

For the third year in a row, Becky Schlegel and Sarah Morris invite you to come in from the cold and join them at 318 Cafe—to get cozy for a night of song and story, harmonies and laughter. Twenty years ago, Sarah moved back to Minnesota after a stint in Nashville and had the incredible fortune to sing a few shows as a member of Becky's band. This sweet, now-annual show at 318 Cafe gives them an opportunity to share the stage and sing together once again.

About Becky: Becky's original music draws on classic country, bluegrass, folk, and her own thoughtful spirit. Her incredible voice floats, whispers, then soars above music of the highest quality, taking listeners on a journey that explores new places and meets new people in every song. In addition to her solo work, Becky is a member of supergroups Heartland Souvenirs and Clover and the Bee.

About Sarah: Three-time Midwest Country Music Organization Songwriter of the Year, Sarah's endearingly honest, expertly penned songs deliberately miss the forest for the trees. Armed with a poignantly relatable rainy day ache in her sunlit voice, she weaves a winding path of masterful storytelling and timeless Americana melody that invites audiences to join her in celebrating the magic of our everyday minutia.

Hi, I’m Dan. I’m a whiskey & beer drinking, fishing & hunting loving, motorcycle riding, quality food eating, hippie sympathizing, hobby farm running, people loving, husband & father who lives in Minneapolis and shares a life with my amazing wife and two adorable sons named Oak and Alder. I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, MI, and moved to Minneapolis when I was 18 to study music, and I stayed because I’m one of those crazy people that enjoys the snow and cold weather.

Songwriting, and performing those songs for people, is both my trade and my passion. When I’m not in my studio writing and cutting records, or on the road playing shows, I’m usually playing in the woods with our boys, tending to our backyard chickens, eating fresh veggies from my wife’s huge garden, making syrup from our maple grove, or doing one of my many outdoor hobbies.

Born in Minneapolis and raised in the quiet suburbs nearby, Raymnd developed a deep love for music at a young age—something quickly noticed by those closest to him.

Growing up, he was inspired by the sounds of The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and other 1960s neo-psychedelic acts, as well as the pop and funk roots of fellow Minneapolis native Prince. He also drew influence from modern dream-pop artists like Beach House and Mazzy Star.

As he has matured, Raymnd has crafted a sound uniquely his own—blending mellow guitar, haunting lyrics, lush synths, and hypnotic melodies that keep listeners coming back for more.
