Tommy & The Liebermen

Tom Lieberman has been on the scene since he first stepped onto the stage of the Coffeehouse Extempore on the West Bank in 1973 at the age of 16.  He was, with Tim Sparks and Prudence Johnson, a founding member of the seminal vocal jazz trio Rio Nido, and was a regular contributor to A Prairie Home Companion as a performer, writer & production associate from 1976-1986.  Tom went on to write and produce for a wide variety of radio, television, stage and screen productions including the independent feature film, Sweet Land, which featured him singing his own composition, Eskimo Kisses."  Tom is currently working with NEA Jazz Master Delfeayo Marsalis and his New Orleans-based Uptown Music Theatre, and is the creator of "Ukulele Alley, starring everybody's talking ukulele - Luke the Uke.

In recent years, Tom has returned to the performance stage as a solo and collaborative musical artist.  His 2013 recording of original songs, "Common Denominator" by Tommy & The Liebermen has been received warmly by listeners, reviewers and broadcasters worldwide.  Critics from the Minneapolis StarTribune described it as, 'Bluesy, simmering, profoundly philosophical," "gentle, romantic, playful and infectious," and named it one of the year's Top Ten Minnesota-made recordings.
